About
OUR club

Kentwood Rugby operates as a not-for-profit, community-minded, player development-focused sports club serving Kentwood, Michigan and surrounding areas. Founded in 2018 as "South Kent Rugby Football Club" and serving 6th-8th graders, we expanded in 2019 to include high school aged players. We currently offer a co-ed, full contact 6th-8th grade team and a boys' full contact 9th-12th grade team. We are members in good standing of Rugby Michigan and USA Youth and High School Rugby.

No experience is necessary. You need not be a Kentwood student, but you must be enrolled in an accredited school or institution and working toward a high school diploma.

Action
Packed

Our Spring season features 15-a-side rugby action (Union Code). We teach safer tackling skills that may cross-over into other sports like football and wrestling.

In rugby, all players play offense and defense, and all players have a chance to carry the ball!

Comradery and
Brotherhood

One of the enduring traditions of rugby is to share a post-match meal with the opposing team. This helps not only reduce animosity after a hard fought match, but can form lifelong friendships between opposing players.

If you practice
You play*

Unlike other team sports, rugby strives to include as many players as possible. We do not "cut." Smaller clubs often play a third half so that new or less experienced players can experience real, competitive play. Larger clubs may add a second team to accommodate their squad. At Kentwood Rugby, we remain flexible so that no one rides the bench.

Show up at practice, put in the work, make your teammates better as well as yourself, and you'll see plenty of play time.
